Register a IoT device by using Connected Field Service to IoT Hub

Hello,

I want to register a real device in conneced field service (CFS) to my Azure IoT Hub. What options do I have.

I manually was able to add an IoT device in the Azure IoT Hub.

However I would like to know how I can register a device created in CFS to Azure IoT Hub automaticaly. Do I need to create a logic app for this or does CFS do this automatically?

I appreciate every help!

What you describe is standard functionality, have a look at docs.microsoft.com/.../installation-setup-iothub

The command calls the CRM2IoT logic app which registers the device from D365 on the IoT Hub and returns a status and optionally a device id.

    Hello Alexander,

    thanks for your message!

I have already registered a device as it says "registered". However in Dynamics 365 when I click on device the field connection state for the IoT device is "Disconnected". Also I checked in which Azure IoTHub the device is being registered. It is being registered in the wrong IoTHub of another resource group. When creating the IoT device, the field IoT Provide Instance suggests at first the wrong resource group. Even changing this to the right resourcegroup, the device is getting registered in the wrong one.

In my Azure Portal I have two resources. One is a testresourcegroup where I have added the microsoft's temperature simulator example and the other resourcegroup is my own one. I want all devices to be regisiered and connected to my resourcegroup. Is there any way of setting in Dynamics 365 CFS to register devices to my resourcegroup? Do I need to implement the CRM2IoT? I have seen it in Microsoft's temperature simulator example.

Hard to diagnose remotely… Go to Customization>Service Endpoints>IoT Message. This should tell you where you "Register" message is actually sent. If you change it, you will be able to route the message in the right direction.
