Need a blank default value on a Two Options field

Hello,

I have a Two Options field in CRM online with a value of YES and NO.

The requirement is that it should have a blank value when a new record is created.

Is this possible?

I tried using workflow by Clearing the value on Record Creation. But did not work.

Any suggestions on this?

Thank you.

    Hello,

Yes, clearing the field worked by adding Javascript, not sure how it would behave in reporting.

Created a new Option Set field.

    Thanx.

I think in this case better you can create new option set field instead of two option field  if you need more options .

    Hi Hufeza,

You could try setting the value to null using Javascript.

    Xrm.Page.getAttribute("twoOptionFieldLogicalName").setValue(null);

    See: https://www.magnetismsolutions.com/blog/11-09-19/No_Default_Value_on_Two_Options_Field_Dynamics_CRM_2011.aspx

You could also try clearing the field using business rules.

    See: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/customer-engagement/customize/create-business-rules-recommendations-apply-logic-form

    Hope this helps.

    Hello,

    Thank you for the reply.

Yes I am aware of option set.

But I need to customise existing field as it is been used in many reports.

Isn't there any workaround or javascript which can do this?

    Thank you.

    HI Huzefa,

Two options field cannot be cleared. It will always have a value ( Yes or No). Just these two options only. As per your requirement, you could try creating an option set with the two values(Yes and No) and select the default value as unassigned value.

    Hope this helps.
