NAV Integration with 3rd Party Point of Sale

Posted on by 145

I've searched and can not find any answers.  Is there any type of native integration with point of sale systems?  If not any add on products that would allow NAV to integrate with a pos system?  The pos system is a sql based product.

RE: NAV Integration with 3rd Party Point of Sale

    Hello Tharanga,

Is there anyway of triggering a sales order approval request(if blocked or over credit limit) from web services. I havent researched it properly but as i found your profile i thought to ask you. Im developing a POS solution(VB.net/Nav Web services) for our company and im almost finished but only thing holding me now is send a approval request via web services to Nav and getting.

    Thanks

    Charith

Insight Works offers a Point of Sale system specifically for NAV.

There are POS integrated with NAV out of the box that do not require anything else but NAV (and an add-in).

The one I work with is called Dynamic Retail. It's a solution from Dynavics (you can google it if you wish) which has a complete solution for POS and includes a very very impressive replication system to keep all of the stores and head office updated.

There is no native integration for POS. You can use webservices or direct SQL links (not a good idea) to integrate NAV with the POS system. That is the only way forward.

There isn't anything in the standard product that has a retail orientation. We built some retail transaction tables to receive inbound transactions from the PoS (the content and update frequency vary depending on which PoS and it's capabilities). We use web services to push and pull data, i.e. product updates and price updates down to the PoS (normally done overnight) and pull, sales and payments on an hourly basis. For in store, back office functions, like goods receipt and stock take, if the PoS has no function for this they remote into the head office NAV server and carry out the relevant work there. Hope this helps?

    Matt,

How did you integrate the other pos systems such as Micros into NAV?  I have never used NAV before and so I am not very well versed on the product at all.  Was there a special connector that your company made to establish the integration or was it done natively through the software?  Can you point me to an area in the software to look at this?  I've got 2013 NAV downloaded and have been looking at it but again I can not find anything in the help files that talk about this.

Hi, we're an LS partner and they have a NAV and .Net PoS that are integrated. That said we have also integrated to Omnico, Itim, Zonal, Micros, Torex DRS and don't forget there is the Microsoft RMS Retail and PoS solution, if your using a Web Services the integration is pretty straight forward.

I think LS Retail add-on has POS management included, otherwise you can evaluate Dynamics POS:
