Creating New Company (Invalid Data Type)

Hi Guys, A new user to NAV 2009 SP1... Have literally just purchased and Installed it. I am having trouble Creating a new company as follows using the following steps:

1. File -> Company -> New Company

2. Enter Company Name

3. Select Company Type (This is where the error seems to be) NAV won't bring up a list and let me select the company type and gives me the following error:

"You are using an invalid data type for this function."

Can anyone suggest anything that could cause this problem?

I have tried the following:

- Checking permissions and allowing everyone full access

- Replacing files from that off the Australian Install Disc

Any help would be much appreciated!!!

cheers!

    Check for the folliwng things:

    1) The company type list is stored in the Configuration.xml in Company Settings folder with respective languages, check for the file is existance for your language.
    e.g. for ENU
    C:\Program Files\Microsoft Dynamics NAV\60\Classic\Company Settings\ENU\Configuration.XML

    2) Befor selecting company type, start debugger to check which data is causing the problem.

    Thanks guys!

    As it turns out, The Core XML services did the trick!

     Your help is much appreciated!
