    Hi

I assume from your message that you are a developer, if you are an end user I would suggest getting your NAV partner to assist here

Yes definitely possible, what I would suggest doing is using the Linked Server functionality to connect the Access database to the SQL server, then you will be able to create Queries to that database in SQL and make those queries available as linked tables in NAV

The idea being that you will then be able to fetch information directly from that system's access database as your code runs in NAV

You can find information on how to link the DB to SQL here

    www.techrepublic.com/.../133

And how to create the linked table from the query in NAV here

    dynamicsuser.net/.../how-to-display-an-sql-server-view-in-microsoft-dynamics-nav.aspx

    Hope this helps

Not sure but you may need an integration solution for NAV and your inventory system? Our NAV connector can help with inventory sync as well as connecting your Microsoft ERP system to a number of Point of Sale, eCommerce, 3PL or remote warehouse systems. www.nchannel.com/connect-microsoft-dynamics-nav

If you have any questions or would like to talk more in detail and if our solution can help, feel free to contact us at any time.

    Hi

It would be possible as NAV is able to use dot net components in NAV 2009 and dot net allows serial port communication, i haven't done it myself so don't have ready code

There are two main issues to overcome, the first is the actual communication with the port and the second is saying the right things to the bridge and understanding the replies

Below is how it is done in VB however you will need to do the conversion to NAV (Something that is a lot harder than it sounds in my experience normally taking hours of trial and error)

    support.microsoft.com/.../823179

Alternatively you can look at what others have done using custom controls however the newer versions of NAV no longer use OCX controls so some of these solutions will no longer work

    www.google.com.au/search

My suggestion is that if you have a several sites it is worth the time investment, if not rather use the linked tables

Let us know how it goes
