Client was not authenticated to send anonymous mail during MAIL FROM [AM0PR10CA0047.EURPRD10.PROD.OUTLOOK.COM]

Hi Everyone.

I've been trying to set up the email parameters for a while now without success.

the email client is part of my customer's tenant. I am using the admin user

I followed the SMTP setup instructions as per the microsoft documentation.

I always end up with the following error:

 Client was not authenticated to send anonymous mail during MAIL FROM [AM0PR10CA0047.EURPRD10.PROD.OUTLOOK.COM]

Is there an issue with the user itself and its outlook settings?

    Also do you see this error as well "The SMTP server requires a secure connection or the client was not authenticated. The server response was: 5.7.57 SMTP; ".

    This is the exact error I get.

    The SMTP server requires a secure connection or the client was not authenticated. The server response was: 5.7.57 SMTP; Client was not authenticated to send anonymous mail during MAIL FROM [AM0PR02CA0174.eurprd02.prod.outlook.com]

    I discovered two other things in the mean time. The user doesn't have an inbox. It doesn't have an Office 365 account. Also It requires a text authentication to log in.

    My general questions should probably change to the following:

    1. What licenses should the account for email setup have?

    2. What type of authentication should the account have?

    3. What would the requirements for the environment be? Currently I am using a tier II sandbox environment.

    The user need to have an inbox , tier 2 sandbox looks fine. However you have to setup the mailbox first.

    And what should the sender user minimum Office 365 license be? Just any that allows Outlook?
