create test environment from production environment

I am currently using NAV 2009, I would like to ask if I can make a copy of Production environment by using File > Database > New, then get back up and restore into created database?
I want it for testing purpose.

Hi,

you can take Sql or navision backup and get it restore to test server.

also, make sure to have enough disk space for test server as production database may contain huge size.

Yes, you can use the prod backup and create a new database. Just make sure if you have Add-ons or customizations referring to a path or license to change to TEST environment path.
