Hi All,

We have installed AX 2012 R3 and Visual studio 2010 in one machine  and SQL server 2016 in another machine , when we are trying to edit the SSRS report in visual studio getting the error "Unable to preview the report , Install Business Intelligence Development Studio feature of Microsoft SQL server" , we have installed "SQL server data tools" from SQL server 2016 setup, still the same error is appearing while editing the SSRS report.

    Salam!

    Dear Akbar,

    Trust you are fine!

Please install Development Tools - Visual Studio tools from AX setup on the AOS server and restart it.

I guess Visual studio 2010 is not compatible with SQL server 2016. please visit the link mentioned below "Installing Integration Services Versions Side by Side"

Only Visual Studio 2013 is supported for development for AX 2012 R3 CU8.

To fix this error you need to install SQL Server 2008 R2 Business Intelligence Development Studio (BIDS). Even if you're using SQL Server 2012 for your database, you need this component of SQL 2008 to edit reports in the AOT of AX 2012 R2.

Download here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=30438 Make sure you select "SQLEXPRADV_x64_ENU.exe" from the download options.

Then install SQL Express Advanced 2008 R2 on the AOS or machine you're running your AX session on with only the BIDS option selected.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi,

Please see the link below. I think you need to upgrade your MS SQL Server as a result of this

" This content has been retired and may not be updated in the future. The product, service, or technology mentioned in this content is no longer supported."

    Hope it helps?
