In terms of field descriptions, these three payment types are the same, the difference is in their intended purpose, as the word suggests:
When the discount is applied directly to the customer deduction, select Customer Deduction, reflects a decrease in the amount of the client's account.
When you select Trade spending, discounts are seen more as part of trade spending.
