Can the Dataverse search be used from the Lookup Field on a Form?

By enabling “Dataverse Search”, all model-driven Power Apps have the global search experience with the search bar available on the header of environment. This is a great search feature - it seems to return better results for Account searches - despite spelling, pronunciation, lack of exact match etc. So, can the Dataverse search be used from a lookup field on a form - instead of the Advanced find?

It sounds like you could write a script to invoke the Web API with a dataverse search parameter and then open a web resource that only displayed the Account results. Can one pass a parameter to the Dataverse Search so that it only looks at a subset of tables? Or could one write a generic control to handle this?

Could this functionality already be scheduled in a future Microsoft release?

Thanks!
