Add licenses to deployable package

Hi,

I checked the link https://marketplace.visualstudio.com/items?itemName=Dyn365FinOps.dynamics365-finops-tools

It mentioned

  • Create Deployable Package : Create a deployable package from a set of compiled X++ binaries. This task is available in both build and release pipelines. It requires the X++ compiler tools.

  • Add Licenses to Deployable Package : Add license files to a deployable package. This task is available in both build and release pipelines.

  • Update Model Version : Update model descriptors' versions during build. This task is available in both build and release pipelines. The task needs to execute before running the build of the model in question, and it only updates the local copy of the descriptor during build and does not affect the descriptor present in source control.

When to use Create Deployable package and Update Model Version, I thought these two tasks are already included in the build definition which was deployed from LCS?

What is purpose to add licenses to Deployable package?

Thanks,

I have the same question (0)

We are working on allowing you to run builds without needing a VM - using Azure DevOps hosted agents. Since the scripts for model version and creating deployable package are on the VM today, we need a different way to let you perform these tasks.

But even with the VM, there are some benefits to using these tasks. If you're unsure what those benefits could be, it likely means you don't have any problem with the existing tasks in your definition and there's probably little benefit to switching right now.
