Problems scheduling crews with leader strategy

Hello,

I am implementing crews for scheduling work orders. These are the steps to reproduce:

Create a crew

Strategy: Leader Management

Add members to crew - with only 1 leader (even though documentation says you can have multiple leaders)

Schedule a work order against the crew

On the booking that is created you are unable to reschedule, cancel etc. The only way you can do this is by opening the booking for the crew and changing the crew to "leader". Then you can edit the booking. This is with all system administrator privileges.

When cancelling the booking, it does not reappear for rebooking, the only way it does is if you remove the cancelled booking (even though the work order says it is unscheduled).

If you remove the cancelled booking you do not have the history for the booking.

Leader management on crews seems really counter-intuitive and the documentation doesn't help. It would be good if anyone could shed some light on this.

I have the same question (0)

Are you sure your view on the schedule board is correct as you should see it if it's unscheduled. Go to work orders and select your view as below and see if it shows there.

Do you not get option to right click and move?

I cannot move the booking to another crew once it is booked against the crew. I get the message: "Can not move this requirement group booking to a crew resource."

The New Schedule Board does not seem very good for crews as I cannot see who is in a crew easily or who is the leader so I am using the "old" schedule board.

If there is any resource out there that explains  how to use crews (including crew strategy) with the schedule board I think that would be a good starting point to resolve this to fill in any gaps I may have.

May not help solve the problem but while researching I found new schedule board is getting further enhancements in the area of 'crew and pool' in the current Release Wave 2: docs.microsoft.com/.../preview-schedule-board. Therefore as of today, the new schedule board doesn't have full feature parity in this area with the old version.

It's quite confusing with the new schedule board and some schedule boards having Crews and some not having them.

Can you try and use Crew Member Self-Management instead?

We were testing Project Operations however due to issues not limited to US date formats and no crews we spun the project and created are own custom Projects instance.

In this instance we get crews but no ability to add type i.e. leader etc. We use resource requirements and can assign it to a crew which works well respects the work hours, these are multi day / week bookings. Unless made on the hours view it creates a booking(bookable resource booking) for each crew member for every day. We can then move or cancel bookings on the schedule board or we can cancel the whole booking. We then have a flow that removes all the canceled bookings as they clutter the board. If it was necessary we would create another custom related entity and store a record of the canceled booking.

Thanks for the response. I'm actually looking in to dispensing with Crew Leader Management as you say. The client want to have all crew members be able to update the booking so cascade all seems the way to go. Microsoft have labelled this option as "not recommended" I notice, however there is no mention of this in any documentation?? I've also seen videos online where the presenter recommends using "cascade all". I feel this should be far more intuitive than it is in reality.
