GP Management Reporter Drill Down

I had a question earlier today, and I'm drawing a blank.  Using Dynamics GP 2018 and MR 2012 (CU 16), how do I toggle between the direct drill down into GP and the drilldown through the browser.

Please advise.  Look forward to a response.  Thanks!

RE: GP Management Reporter Drill Down

    Hello fellow consultants

Is there a way we can decide what information displays on the drill down details? Currently the drill down displays reference&date. We would like the date to be first…then the reference . It should be just swapping the 2 fields around?

    I hope this is possible.

    Regards

    Mish

Hi Charlotte. The web viewer requires the data mart integration to drill back to GP. Using legacy, it only drills down further in the web viewer. The Report Viewer application can drill back with legacy or data mart. Each user can set their default viewer in Report Designer under Tools -> Options. While browsing a report with the web viewer, you can open that same copy in Report Viewer by clicking Download -> Management Reporter Report Viewer assuming you have an MR client installed on the machine.

    Hi Lisa,

I have confirmed it works in the Report Viewer and it looks like the instructions you provided are for the Report Viewer, not the Web Viewer.  I've submitted a case with Microsoft to confirm if this functionality does truly exist in the Web Viewer and how to use it.

I'm not familiar with that screenshot but here is what it looks like from the Report Viewer:

I expect the Web Viewer version of this is going to behave differently depending on MR release and browser (for example, may work with Edge but not Chrome).

Here is what I see in Help.

Open the report using the Desktop or Web Viewer. To use the Drill to Dynamics feature, you must be at the account level of the report.

You can access the Drill to Dynamics feature in one of the following ways:

Select an amount, and then click Drill to Dynamics on the toolbar.

Select an amount, and then on the View menu, select Drill to Dynamics.

    Select an amount, press Alt+D.

Depending on the Microsoft Dynamics ERP system that you are using, the ERP system window opens, based on the system that is connected to the report or the node of the tree that you are drilling down into. If you are not logged on to the ERP system, you must enter your credentials.

For troubleshooting, I'd confirm it works properly in Report Viewer.  If that works, try different web browsers to see if it works there.  (I know there were releases of MR where this didn't work at all.  My screenshot above is from 2.12.160.13.0 drilling into GP 18.4.1434.)

RE: GP Management Reporter Drill Down

Hey thanks for the feedback Lisa.  Unfortunately, my problem isn't with the Report Viewer as I can drill into Dynamics GP from this.  This article states you can also drill into Dynamics GP when you are printing reports from the Web Viewer.  But I don't see any option when printing reports this way.  We don't want to use the Report Viewer as we like how the reports are generated in the Web Viewer.

This is the picture from the above response to the post.  The user indicates you will see these two below options when you are viewing a report in the Web Viewer.  But I have tried everything I can think of and cannot produce these two options.

RE: GP Management Reporter Drill Down

    Hello,

I am running reports in MR CU 16 and cannot see how this option is available in the web viewer.  The report for which I'm testing this functionality is set for Periodic with the level set down to the transaction.  When I drill into the details, I get no option as shown in the picture above to "Open in Microsoft Dynamics".  I can do this in the MR Report Viewer but want to do it as stated above in the web viewer as that is how we want to publish the financials.

I've tried using IE and Firefox for the browsers with no luck.

Is this functionality potentially available in another Dynamics product such as AX and not GP?

    Thanks for the help.

    Greg,

Thanks for the follow up.  I am embarrassed to say it was simpler than that.  I was drilling down from a YTD column instead of a PTD column.  As such it was only doing the drill down to Dynamics and not to the browser.

    Hi JG,

If you using MR Web Viewer, you can drill down to the account level.  Then click on an amount and you should get this:

If you are using MR Report Viewer, drill to the account detail level.  Then click on the amount and click either the Drill Down button on the Dynamics button at the top.
