Disable Tax Exemption number validation

Hello all,

I am new to D365 so please bare with me. I am using Data Management to import an excel file with some customer data. I have 2 issues that I am running into.

1. I have some very weird Tax License numbers (from the source system), which I need to import into d365. I get an error on the Tax Exemption number:

Results. Value 'XXXX' in field Tax exempt number was not found for country/region USA in relating table Tax exempt number table
Results. validateField failed on field 'CustCustomerV3Entity.TaxExemptNumber'

Is there a way to disable validation? I need the values to show up for the Tax Exempt number or find another place for this info. Any suggestions?

2. I need to import DUNS number into my customer table and I do not see the field in the import of data for customers. How can I import the DUNS number?

Thanks

/Imran

    Hi Imran,

    For No 1:

In the AR parameters (general tab) there is a parameter tax exempt number requirement. You might want to set this one to none and test the import again.

    For No 2:

The DUNS number seems indeed not being part of the customers details v2 data entity. If you want to import that field then you would need to extend this entity.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

    Hello Dr. Ludwig,

Thanks for responding. I did check the Tax-exempt number requirement and it was already set to none, so no luck there.

For the DUNS number, is there a link somewhere explaining how to extend the entity? I am a new-bee, so I am in the process of learning D365 as well.

    Thanks

    Imran

    Hi Imran,

The Tax exempt numbers do have a reference to a base table. You should first import the Tax exempt numbers in this reference table with a data entity ("Sales tax exempt numbers"); then you can import the customers including the Tax exempt numbers.

For extending a data entity, there is a blog with some guidance (other entity, but hopefully you understand the procedure): D365/AX7: Add a new custom Field In Standard or Base Data Entity - All About Microsoft Dynamics (allaboutdynamic.com)
