Making a purchase order using excel file/CSV file

Hello!

I've been asked by my manager to manually make purchase orders in microsoft dynamics AX 2012.

Every order is already existing in an excel file, but it doesn't seem like I am able to just import the order and make the purchase. Is there any way for me to just import the data and get rid of the manually work?

the orders has already been made but in another company - my job is to copy the orders onto a new one.

Sorry if my explanation is confusing, this is not my typical day job - Im just helping out my colleges.

Best Regard Jeppe Kamp

    Hello Jeppe,

Is this a one time event where you have to transfer the data from your excel file to AX2012 or is this something that you have to do on a regular basis?

If it is a one-time event you can try using the data migration framework/module. If you have not done that yourself before, ask a developer / technical system admin in your company for help.

In case you have to do this data transfer on a regular basis then it might be smart developing an integration. Alternatively, you can use PowerAutomate and create a UI flow that automates the data transfer from your Excel file to AX2012.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

    Hello Ludwig

It’s simply a one time thing to get up to date with the orders. Do you think there is a walkthrough or guide online since none of us in the company knows about this feature.

    Kindest regard Jeppe

    Hi Jeppe

You can Use the DIXIF feature or can write the complete process of the file upload feature, then you will have two options.

1- You can create the Purchase orders one by one on the main thread.

2- Or you can dump the complete file into staging and then create the purchase order using a multi-threaded batch job.

Hope the following link may help you.
