This is a strange one. Still running MS Dynamics SL 6.15. We run two VM on our Windows Server 2012R2. The first VM runs MS Dynamics and MS SQL Server. The other VM runs Terminal Server. All Solomon users us RDC to create a session on Terminal Server and then log into Solomon.
This has been working fine for years. In the past 3 months we have started seeing problems. The problem seems to be with the VM running terminal services. Suddenly people logging into TS no longer see the pinned shortcut to launch Solomon. If they manually launch Solomon it will not open the Solomon database but instead offer the dialog to find a Solomon database. Sometimes everyone trying to log in are affected, at other times one person will have no problems but everyone has the problem. Anyone already logged into Solomon has no problems are are not logged off.
We can temporarily solve this problem by rebooting the VM hosting Terminal Servers. There is no need to do anything with the VM hosting Solomon and MS SQL Server. After the reboot everything is fine.
I suspected perhaps some Windows Server update introduced a memory leak so I increased the RAM on the physical server and allocated more RAM to each VM yesterday. Within a few hours the problem happened again, after having no problems for 2 weeks.
The user session in Terminal Services is connecting the S: drive to the correct point on the Solomon server. At first this seemed to be the problem but I haven't seen this specific issue reoccur in the past month.
This strikes me as weird.
