How is the "units per parcel" used?

Hi,

we need to restrict users to order quantities that are not complete units for the warehouse to move around. To be more specific, we have an itemcode which the Base unit is in linear meters the Purchase unit which the Warehouse uses is roll with a coefficient of 20 linear meters per roll and the sales unit is also linear meter.

So, we need to find a way for the sales people when they enter an order in the system ask only in times of 20lm and not ask for example 25lm which will result for 1 roll and something which the warehouse cannot measure.

I was told that the units per parcel can do this.

Is this true and can anyone tell me how is this setup?

Thank in advance ppl!

In NAV (Navision) you can setup Units of measure to be used as default when selling or purchasing. But in the standard there is nothing to prevent user from selecting any other unit available.

If you don't want the unit to be changed in any item, then you could make the unit field not editable on sell forms.

The Navision Help for the "Units per Parcel" field on the Item table says:

Here you can enter the number of units per parcel of the item.
You may need the number of units per parcel when you fill out customs documents, waybills, and so on.

    Salut!

    Hi,

I think, using Barcodes with UOM will solve your issue.

You should have 2 kinds of Barcodes for that Item. One for Liner Meter and one for Roll.

Lock the UOM Field so that User cannot able to change the UOM. So only option given to him, is to scan the barcode, which in turn directs to the correct required UOM of that respective item.
