Transaction Texts in Ledger Journals

Hi Guys,

I have a requirement that to add one new string called Internal Description in the ledger Journal lines along with the standard field LedgerJournalTrans.Txt. The new field will be used for the internal descriptions for each business unit and the standard one will be used from a list of unified texts in all Business units. My concern here is to pass the new string filed also where ever the standard Text goes. i.e. both texts should be posted to all related tables or related ledger account entries. how can i make sure that I did not miss anything.

Thanks in Advance.

    Hi,

Why is this additional internal description field needed?

The standard application ships with the text, offset text and reason code functionality that allow you entering a lot of descriptions in different fields if you like.

Have you tested whether those three features can help you entering your internal description?

I do not see the necessity to add a fourth descriptive field in journals.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

Thanks Mr. Ludwig for the response. Its a requirement based on the government policy as the standard field should be in one language, we can say in French with a standard Transaction texts and other one in English. I need to bring both texts in the related reports, As an example for a transaction the standard Text can be "Salary for Employees" and Internal description can be        "Salary for employee number 0587358"

Is the above can be done by any other fields ? I think If I do the same as I mentioned in my requirement I may face problems with entries posted to the related ledgers. (example in case of Vendor Payments the New field will be posted only to the ledger account for payment and may not be posted  to the related Tax account in case if Tax included.)

    Hi,

If this is a legal requirement MS should have a standard feature for that.

For which country do you implement this?

Have you already checked the available country specific documentation on the MS docs websites?

    Best regards,

    Ludwig
