Qualify Lead and setting Account primary contact

I take it when you qualify a lead it will only set the primary contact of the account if the contact or account are not selected when qualifying the lead. The only time this appear to set the Primary contact is when a New Account and Contact is created as part of the lead qualification process . It this correct ?

Thanks G

Yes, this is correct. The thinking behind this is, if you're creating a new account and contact, there are no other contacts that could be the primary contact. If you select an existing contact or account, the user would set the primary contact manually, or leave it as it is
