how to delete an operating unit? The corresponding menue item is deactivated although the unit is not used in hierarchies...!?
=> Organization administration > Setup > Organization > Operating units.

You can delete an operating unit if it has not been used in a hierarchy like you stated. But also if it has not been used as financial dimension. Can you verify if it has been used as dimension?

thanks 4 ur reply. Although it has not been used as dimension but it has been used in a former hierarchie publication. So I think the problem is in this case that if the unit has once been used in a hierarchie and published it cannot be deleted anymore even if it has been removed from the current valid hierarchie. Do I suppose correctly?
When it has been used in a former hierarchy, it has been used. If you look at the hierarchy with a historical date, the operating unit is still visible.
So in fact it is still present in the hierarchy tables, but with an end date which will ensure it is not part of a current hierarchy view. This is indeed the reason that you cannot delete it anymore.
With some data manipulation it would be possible to delete the hierarchy related records. Then the delete will become active. But this cannot be done from a functional part of AX.
