Hi,
We are trying to create a PowerBI report for user activity in Dynamics 365. We need to find out who has logged into D365, for how long, the records they have created/updated in the past x days etc. Any idea how do we get this?
Previously this was possible using Application Insights in D365, which has now been deprecated. The solution for this should have been available through CDS for Analytics but this hasn’t arrived for Public Preview yet.
Appreciate your response.
Hi Pradeep,
OOTBm These actions are tracked currently through audit logs. You'll want to enable auditing :
docs.microsoft.com/.../enable-use-comprehensive-auditing
You cannot report on audit logs the standard way through dynamics 365 or through PowerBI without custom work to duplicate the data. Audit log reports can only be built and exist within the Office 365 Security and Compliance Center.
Alternatively, you could track the activity yourself by programmatically accessing the audit logs:
docs.microsoft.com/.../get-started-with-office-365-management-apis
This would let you create a custom entity to store a replica of the data formatted the way you want, and report on it with PowerBI. This is effort-intensive - you may be best served waiting for CDS for Analytics.
