Has anyone seen this behavior - when selecting 'Use existing dates for reversal', seemingly random dates are sometimes (not always) selected for the reversal posting. I've been trying to identify a pattern to this behavior with no success thus far. I've advised the client not to flip this flag on and instead enter the date they want to journal to reverse on. I've seen this in multiple environments. Thanks

Which version are you using?
The issue happens to multiple vouchers with different date.
There are multiple KB for different versions in LCS, please check.
1. First priority for system to take the original date as reversal in case of this is marked as yes
2. In some cases, the period of the original transaction may be closed , so in that case mostly system picked "Current date" or " Next date available which is open in selected transactions"
Thanks for the responses MATTGUO and Saurabh. Neither of those is the case here. The journals have just a single date on the voucher lines and the ledger periods are open.

Above reply is as per Microsoft official doc, in case of difference you should raise a support ticket to get it confirmed.
It varies by journal. I reversed a journal where all the lines were dated 7/1/2020 and it picked 6/23/2020 for the reversal date. I picked another journal that was dated 5/31/2020 and it reversed on 7/8/2020, which was the current system date. I picked a 3rd journal that was dated 5/31/2020 and it reversed it on 6/1/2020.
I'm sure there is some logic to the dates it's picking, but I can't determine what the logic is. On the journal where the reversal occurred on 6/23/2020, I tried just prior to reversing that one, reversing another journal that was dated 6/23/2020 and that journal was not able to be reversed. Is it possible the system would be picking the date of the last journal reversal that failed? I don't know.
All my testing is being done in a test environment where all periods are open and the journal lines all have the date & company.

Issue 445217 Reversal dates are not correct when used reverse entire journal for transactions with multiple dates
Issue 452984 Unable to reverse the general journal when it is retrieved from a periodic journal into the general journal

Thanks MATTGUO and Ludwig. Our current version includes hotfixes 445217 & 452984, but I see Quality update 10.0.420.30017 in LCS that includes 4557353 which needs to be applied. I'll report back on whether this fixes the issue. Thank you experts!!
