Mark Quote as deleted

Hi,

How can I mark the quote as deleted?

When a Quote is deleted in CRM, the record is lost forever. Instead we would would like to retain the quote and mark it's status as "Closed" and status reason as "Deleted".

We tried achieving this through an action i.e., when Delete button is clicked -> updating the status to "Deleted". But we are unable to do this as we are trying to move the quote from Draft status to Closed status directly (delete button is available only in draft status ). I think the system allows us to mark the quote as closed only if it's in Active status.

Any idea how can we achieve this?

Cheers

Deeksha

    Hi,

There are sme system status transition enabled so it seems expected that you can't go directly from Draft to Closed. You can try to set the active status first and then close.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi Deeksha,

You may customized the delete ribbon through ribbon workbench for both display rule and action it will take after user click delete button in quote entity.

Here is some brief guidance on how to use this tool.

    Hi handedee,

Maybe you can create on-demand workflow to change status directly. Hsere are steps.

1.Add ‘Deleted’ to Status Reason field.

Go to Settings > Customization > Customize the system > Entities > quotes > Fields.

Click Status Reason field to edit it.

    3.Run the workflow.

Go to Quotes to open any a record, expand flow to run the workflow that just created.

You can’t close it from draft, this is by-design.so you need active it first, then run workflow to close it.

After run the workflow, you will see status has changed to deleted.

In addition, if you insist on using button to update status, you can use ribbon workbench to call the workflow from button.

    Hello Handedee,

In regards to your concern, you will create custom delete button using ribbon workbench.

    - In js web resource write code for update quote with close status & call this function on click of custom delete button.
