AX 2012 - AOS service shutdown vs restart server

Hi,

when we stop the AOS service on each of our servers it often takes many minutes (say 10).

However, if you ask the machine to reboot it is off in 30 seconds.

Clearly the reboot does not perform the same operation on the AOS service.

Should this worry me?

What is taking so long when the AOS services are shutting down?

Should we stop the AOSes first before rebooting?

Thanks

Hi Felix, could be when you stop the AOS service it try to close all the ax session, instead when you restart server the system force close of all services without waiting for all operation.

when I need to stop a AOS I stop service (and in case force closing after a wait of 5 minutes), if needed I connect to SQL and clear the table sysserversession and sysclientsession for having a more quickly restart.

    Bye, Daniele.
