Import Contoso demo data for AX2012 R2 on SQL server 2008 SP3

hi guys 

I recently downloaded AX2012 R2 from PS, and installed it on SQL server 2008 SP3 now that i have to Load contoso demo data(the .bak files) , is it a straight forward restore or do i have to run some scripts, because i read somewhere that Contoso demo data for AX2012 R2 is taken from SQL server 2008 R2, hence my question do let me know. if thats the case.

    Hi,

    Ideally u should upgrade ur SQL version to R2 and then do the import. Else I think there shouldn't be any issues in restoring the bak files. Just make sure after restore u run the below script:

    DECLARE @NetworkDomain nvarchar(255);

    DECLARE @NetworkAlias nvarchar(80);

    DECLARE @SID nvarchar(124);

    DECLARE @InitialPartition bigint;

    select @InitialPartition=Recid from PARTITIONS where PARTITIONKEY=N'Initial'

    select @NetworkAlias=NETWORKALIAS,@NetworkDomain=NETWORKDOMAIN,@SID=SID from

    USERINFO where PARTITION=@InitialPartition AND ID = N'Admin'

    UPDATE USERINFO SET

    NETWORKDOMAIN=@NetworkDomain,NETWORKALIAS=@NetworkAlias,SID=@SID WHERE

    PARTITION != @InitialPartition AND ID = N'Admin'

    For worst case scenarios backup ur original DB..

    Is it not possible to restore a .bak file from a SQL R2 version into a SQL 2008 (not R2) version. You have to update your SQL Version!
