Purchase Order Number that has been archived can be reused

I was surprised that Purchase Order that has been archived, the same PO number can be reused to capture for another new purchase with new vendor. Any reason why BC allow to do so? And is there any way to stop users from using the PO number that has been archived?

Hi, as the above two experts said, please check the settings of "Manual Nos." and "Last No. Used".

The user may manually enter the old number, or may modify the Last No used, so that the system automatically fetches the old number.

Number Series in MS Docs: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/business-central/ui-create-number-series#to-create-a-new-number-series

    Hope this will help.

    Thanks.

    Kelvin,

As MahGah has noted please check your No. Series. If you are allowing User to manually enter PO Numbers that could be the issue and worse if someone has changed the last No. used to an incorrect value allowing BC to use the PO Number again.

    Thanks,

    Steve

    Hi

Can you please check No. Series and then find your purchase order No series then check Manual No.  if this box selected user can enter the same number manually. Also, check the last No. Used to see if numbers user are using is smaller than this or not.
