Project Management Timesheet posting & Project Budget

I have created project A with budget say USD100,000 for budget type project hour and approved the budget. I am using timesheet to record and post  employee B weekly registered working hours for this project A.

The rate for the employee per hour is USD20, I am using Effective Labour Rate, our company standard working hours is 42.5 per week. Now, let's say the employee registered working hours for the week is 55 hours, when I post the timesheet, on AX the timesheet itself show that the ELR per hour is = (42.50*20) / 55 =USD15.45 per hour and it posted all the lines on the timesheet.

But when I go to the Project, on the action tab "Plan" - project budget - project budget balances,

The approved budget for budget type Hour shown is USD100,000, the consumed budget shown is USD656.65 (42.50*USD15.45=656.625 rounded to 656.65).

My question: is there anyway to capture the utilized hour instead of standard hours per week as consumed budget? I want the consumed budget to capture 55*15.45=USD849.75 instead of 656.65. Can anybody help? Thanks

    Hi AXNewbie16,

Have you tried deactivating the effective labor rate checkmark at the employee Project setup level? Please see e.g. dynamicsax-fico.com/.../effective-labor-rate

This should allow you getting the result you want to achieve.

    Hope this helps,

    Hi Ludwig,

    Thanks for the prompt reply,

I have actually deactivated ELR check-mark before for the same employee hoping to achieve the result I wanted, the employee per hour rate is still maintained at $20

but somehow it posted journal lines without any cost i.e. the cost per hour becomes '0'

Not sure which part gone wrong, I was assuming that project cost can only be captured once ELR check-mark is selected, Let me read through the link you sent and try again

    will update again, thanks

Another thing I don't get it is, on my timesheet line, it posted all lines total working hour on timesheet with ELR rate, e.g for Monday is 12 hours, for tuesday is 12 hours, wed is 10hours, thu is 11 hours, friday is 10 hours. Lets use above rate $15.45, on posted timesheet, if I open up the posted timesheet,  I go to "hours transaction related information" button, I can see that each line is posted in double entry on its subjournal with following calculation

    Mon 12*15.45

    Tue 12*15.45

    Wed 10*15.45

    Thu 11*15.45

    Fri 10*15.45

which is 849.75 If I add up the total sum posted to both ledgers accounts

but I don't get it why its only 656.65 is reflected on consumed budget

    Hi Ludwig,

I deactivated the ELR like your posting suggested on employee level,

on the PMA - set up - prices - cost price (hour), the employee rate is maintained at $20, the ELR check mark is not activated,

I posted 1 timesheet, but the cost posted is '0' for all hours and lines

    Hi,

Does the same occur if you post the hours in an hour Journal, i.e. does AX also post 0$?

Can you also double check the cost price hour setup especially whether it is limited for some projects, employees, ... that might prevent that AX can find an $ amount? And what AX Version are you running?

    Hi,

I am trying to post on hour journal, my co practice so far is through weekly timesheet

The cost price hour setup, I only fill up the effective date, worker, price, rest all leave it empty

    AX version is 2012 R2 CU7

    Hi,

Please also have a look at LifeCycle Services. There are a number of Hotfixes available for CU8 & CU9 that are related to Project cost Price Problems e.g. 2970707, 2935356, 2934745, 2953936, etc.

    Best regards,

    Hi Ludwig,

I guess it could be bugs, posting using same employee, without ELR set, hourly rate $20, yes, with hour journal it generated journal line $80 dollars double entry, but when I post again another timesheet for same project using this user name, it give me 0 value again.
