Migrating GP to BC while being long off GP maintenance.

We received a request today about migrating from GP to BC. The trick with this one is are running GP 8 and long ago stopped paying maintenance. The question is do they need to buy GP simply to give them the ability to migrate to BC? They will not be using GP once the migration to BC is complete.

Hi, This is a license problem and I recommend contacting Microsoft directly for assistance. Because that's the most accurate

I'm not sure if this still works, you can use Microsoft’s License Migration Transition program to move your existing Dynamics GP licenses to Business Central licenses at no cost before.

Thank you for this valuable information. In regards to this Migration Clouid Migration tool where can I find detailed information or perhaps a sample video? These links only broadly mention it. We do have an old sandbox in which we can play. I would like to perform several test migrations.
