Improve Plugin Development skills

Hello,

I want to improve my knowledge in Plugin development. I understand that Plugin development and c# coding are different ? From a few sources, I have gathered that it takes C# developers time to pick Plugin development, not sure of the difference ?
Should i learn the concepts of C# and .NET first and then Plugin development. Whats the best advice ? I know how to create Plugins and know my way around them but i need to advance my skills. Links and references would be helpful.

Many Thanks,

    RE: Improve Plugin Development skills

    Hi Jay,

C# is a programming language (in the .Net family) and a Plugin is a custom add-on for CRM which can be written in C#. You can be a great developer and not know how to write a plugin, and you can write a plugin with entry level development skills.

There are two ways to advance how you can write plugins - learn and practice in the language, and learn more about how plugins work.

If you want to build your C# skills, the MS Virtual Academy is pretty good - www.microsoftvirtualacademy.com/.../c-app-development

If you want to learn more about building plugins for CRM, I use MSDN for the concepts and examples ( msdn.microsoft.com/.../gg594416.aspx;MSPPError=-2147217396 ) and if there are specific questions, you can usually find an answer here or Stack Overflow.

Hope this helps, I'd be happy to clarify anything. If this helps I'd appreciate if you would mark this as a Verified answer.

    Thanks,

     Aiden
