How to Setup partial users license in NAV

Hi,

I have looked and read through many forums but have not been able to setup partial users permissions for Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2013 R2.

We need to setup access for warehouse managers who will receive and create transfer orders for shipping items,

I already created a user with limited license type in Users Table but I am not able to define the correct permission set for the partial license. Can someone help and tell me what all Object types and Object ID need to be assigned on such permission sets without violating the partial user license rules of access.

A Step by step explanation would be very helpful.

Thanks in Advance

RE: How to Setup partial users license in NAV

    Hi,

With limited license, you do not have any additional setups available in the system. You can attach the required roles to the individual user. As soon as that particular user enters the data into 3 tables, system would start providing the restriction error message and you would not be able to enter into further any of the tables.

This license is used for creating more of master or various transactions, where you don't touch the more than the 3 tables (+ the tables mentioned in Appendix A).

The person, who is going to post the Transfer Order (Ship & Receive) can not have the Limited User license, as it will hit more than 3 tables (i.e. Transfer Shipment Header, Transfer Shipment Line, Item Ledger Entry, Value Entry, G/l Entry etc.).

Also, if person is touching G/L Ledger Table, would be considered as Full User.

Also, see further details for your reference.

Limited User licenses provide users full read but limited yet powerful write capabilities to all of the licensed solution functionality through any and all modes of access including the Windows client. The Limited User license is designed to give you a lower-cost alternative for extending ERP to users who only need to perform limited task as defined in the Licensing Guide.

    • The Limited User license is a concurrent license.
    • A user with this Limited user license will have read access to all the NAV data (licensed solution functionality).
    • Limited users have write access to
      • Three tables of user’s choice except General Ledger (table 17), Permission Set (table number 2000000004), Permission (table number 2000000005) or Access Control (table number 2000000053).
    • Every limited user can have different set of 3 tables assigned to them to write into + tables given under Appendix A in ERP License Guide.
    • There is no setup available in NAV 2013 where you can specify the 3 additional tables that each limited user can write into.

    Hope this helps.
