Newsletter sign up form

Posted on by 84

Hello

I'm creating a simple newsletter signup form to be embedded on an external website

This is on a public website which people new to the company will sign up for the newsletter

This means the form must be type=landing page, because type=subscription centre requires to be linked to from an email.

The form only has 4 fields

First Name
Last Name
Company Name
Email address

This means the form must create a lead, not a contact (contact requires an account name)

So what is the correct workflow to add these new leads to a segment (or subscription list) so that they can be emailed in the future?

Thanks
Pete

Thanks. I assume that was OOB functionality - our dev team must have changed it.

    Thanks for your help

    Hi Pete,

Please check if the parentcustomerid field in your Contact entity has been set as Business Required.

If yes, the warning message will be shown when you check for errors.

You can set it as Optional so that it will not be shown,

    Hi

If I set the Marketing Form to update contacts, I get this error. That's why I've chosen to update leads only.

    Thanks

    Hi Pete,

A segment or a subscription list can contain Contacts only.

But I'd like to know why "contact requires an account name"?

Would you remove the "Company Name" form field from your form if you do not need to track the accounts of the contacts?
