Replace/swap an existing 3D Asset with a simpler asset (lower triangle count) without losing 3D Positioning

Edit: I answered my own question!   If uploading a 3D model with the same title as previously, the Guides app allows to swap out the models this way.  Yay!

Original text:  I am needing to reduce scene complexity guides (because of "Step content failed to load") and the first step might be to swap out some 150K Triangle models with 50K Tris to preserve resources.

What is the best process to do this while preserving the position/visibility of the model that I am replacing?

If I import the new 3D model and then swap out the 3D asset in each step, that also erases the original position and visibility of the model in the scene. (Edit: This is answered above, just re-upload with same filename).

Is there a way to decimate/collapse a 3D model and then re-upload it without having to modify each step that previously used the model?   (Edit: This is answered above, just re-upload with same filename).

Hi Raidennn - THANK YOU for posting your follow-up so others could learn the same.

Yes, if you upload a 3D model with the same name as an existing model (for which you can modify), it will replace that model. This is by design as it allows you to replace a model without changing all of the steps that use the model.
