Sales Credit Memo

is there a way to do a sales credit memo to a customer for an item and not have the quantity nor dollar value to go back into the inventory numbers. I want to be able to give a customer back an amount for x number of units. However, I don't want the units to go back into inventory. The units were not shipped back to us.

You can simply use a GL Account on the credit memo lines. This way the item quantity or value won't be affected.

If you want to affect the item value or amount, without affecting the quantity, you can use an item charge on the credit memo. It sounds like in this case that would be better than using a GL account. I wrote a blog article about this scenario here
