AX Generates .txt Label File Out of Sequence

Posted on by 16

Anyone know why AX would suddenly generate .txt Label Files (for ZPL printer) out of Item ID sequence?

We've been running AX for a few years and generating .txt label files without issue. Label files have ordinarily been in order of ITEM ID. Suddenly most labels are simply out of order in the .txt. file generated by AX. The occasional "blue moon" label generation has the .txt label file with labels in order of ITEM ID as expected.

Can you check the vendor of the ISV. At To-Increase we have a Bartender integration solution for AX 2012, but I don't know if you are using this ISV solution or another one.

It is an ISV - Bartender Integration Builder.

I can now confirm AX exports a ".csv" file that the Bartender Integration builder renames to a ".txt" file.

The AX ".csv" file is created by selecting " generate label" in the Shipping Details window.

Where in AX can the sort order be modified of the above mentioned ".csv" file.

If you can check if you have a customization or probably an ISV solution for this, that would be good to check if we might help you on this forum or not.

I an not 100% certain. It looks like a customization in the Warehouse\Setup\Document Routing Layouts. We have four layouts - 1 for each specific customer.

AX generates the .txt file to a file folder, where a label program is triggered to open the file, generate the label document and send to printer for label printing.

Once the file lands in the file folder everything executes flawlessly.

The issue remains with the file generated by AX. I can go through every file generated for the past 3 years and I can pin point when the labels file stopped generating in sequence.

I need to determine where or how AX organizes the labels to be printed.

On occasion the .txt file lists the labels in sequence by item number - as expected.

Most times the .txt file now lists the labels with no logical organization that I can determine.

    Hi Lanesales,

What exact feature are you using for generating these .txt files? Is it an ISV solution or customization? If something is different now, are you aware of any code or other change?
