Hi All, hopefully a quick question regarding 2012 POS customisation.

We have created additional fields in AX on CustTable and want to be able to update these from the POS. However, the ICustomer interface obviously doesn't see these fields and using a SQL query will only update the store database.

Can anyone advise on whether the ICustomer interface can be extended to allow updating of custom fields in AX or if not is there a way that this can be done?

Any thoughts / ideas appreciated, thanks.

    Hi

    The POS creates and updates customers through the Retail Transaction Service. You'll find the code that implements this service in the AX RetailTransactionService class (methods newCustomer() and updateCustomer()).

    You'll need to modify those methods to support your new fields and then modify the POS code to reflect your changes to the service interface.

    Hi Malcolm, thanks for that.

    I'd figured this out yesterday but forgot I'd posted this question here. There's an extension class for the retail transaction service, RetailTransactionServiceEx, and I've created a new method in there to allow me to update the custom fields.

    Yes, you can add methods to RetailTransactionServiceEx although my understanding is that this is to support new operations.
