Special characters in barcode font

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Hi all!

I'm working on customization of AX for some company.

I've met an issue with barcode. I need to put some barcode commands into the route card.

Some of the words have special characters which exist in polis alphabet.

For example ÅšRODKI, ILOŚĆ ETC.

If I'm using standard barcode font from AX the result is incorrect. I do not get correct barcode.

In place where is located letter with special character I got incorrect barcode, rest part of word is ok.

Do you have any idea what can I do from my level?

I add that I can't go to the source code. I even tried to add in additional text in operation details html code which allows writing with polish characters but without success.

Try this article ax.docentric.com/barcodes-microsoft-dynamics-ax which gives a lot of useful insights. (I confess to being a reseller) but the information is worthwhile irrespective of the add on.  More insight is given in this post from Brandon http://instructorbrandon.com/functional-quickie-how-to-set-up-bar-codes-in-dynamics-ax-2012r2/

Magic those are all kind of barcodes which I have in AX.

Each code has a few barcodes font.

All text will be written in polish language but some of the words I'd like to write as a barcode.

    Magic,

I can't find barcode font in AX which allows it.

I have about 12 barcode fonts in AX and when I'm testing my case the result is always incorrect.

This task could resolve only program developer/programist?

To use more than one language in a single text object, you must choose a font that supports all of the languages and scripts that you wish to include.
A font is a set of symbols, called glyphs. For most fonts, the glyphs share common design elements so that those look visually compatible with each other. The common design elements of a font are known as the typeface , and the font is usually named after its typeface.

Each font includes one or more scripts that can be used with it.

These scripts also determine which languages are supported by the font.

The font Arial Unicode MS has glyphs for all major languages and many minor languages--over 50,000 glyphs in all. Polish is not specifically supported but would guess it falls under the Central European script which is encoding 1250.

My advice is to look at Bar Tender as an add on it is widely adopted with Ax and makes a lot of the work easier.
