How to process an RMA in Dynamics 2012

Our process is such that when a customer requires a return we input in RMA into the system, we dispatch a truck to go pick up and we receive the product back in inventory. Dynamics is currently not allowing me to put in a pick up address into the RMA. It looks like I can only put in the address on where to deliver it to. Is it possible to do this or do most people use a process outside of AX to alert the transportation company where to pick it up. Thanks for the feedback from anyone using the RMA system in Sales and Marketing.

Hi ,

in the standard Ax there isn't a function to specify pick up address , so you will need to customize the system, or a add the pick up address as note in attachments.

ok so I understand how to enter an RMA in 2012. What happens next. It looks like it creates a negative sales order for the return but this order is not visible on any other screens including open sales orders. How does the warehouse know where to go to receive it. What is the process flow.

Once you create RMA order

it appears in Item Arrival Overview form in Inventory Management module (Periodic)

Over here you apecify the warehouse details

once you complete the Item Arrival process

you will get Item Arrival journal created

Once you post Item Arrival journal then you will be able to post the Sales Order Packing Slip and Invoice

We utilize the Case management part of AX 2012. The Case is where you can have multiple departments enter important information regarding the return your company is processing. The person who enters the RMA could leave a "note" in the Case as to where to pick up the product.
