Discount Groups for Quotes and Sales

My client need to implement multiple discount groups that can be applied to Sales Quotes and SO. As far as I know, I cant create discount groups in AX unless I use AX Retail (please correct me if I am wrong). How can I achieve this in AX?

Example:

Client place a request for service item. If the order quantity is more than 50 then the client receives 10% discount on overall order. Also, If the item is from a specific Item Group then additional 5% as quantity discount (Threshold is 25 quantity).

Above are just a few discount groups that I am talking about. There are quite a few discount groups and every order that I get from the client probably will have some/few/all discounts applicable to it.

I think Price/Discount journal can be used here but it has limited applicability for me. Please advise how to proceed.

    Why can't you setup Item discount groups under Sales and marketing, Setup, Price/discount, Item discount groups?  Once setup, and associated with Released products, they can be applied to Trade agreements, from which they will populate Sales order lines (and Sales quotation lines as needed).  How multiple discounts interact is setup in Accounts receivable parameters, on the Price content page.

    Watch this video and see if it gives you any ideas.

    Brandon, If I you item discount group then only one type of discount will be applicable (the one which is mentioned in the item master). I have a 5 different types of discount applicable on a single item in one single SO, then will it calculate and include all these discounts? Please confirm.

    That sounds like something you'll need to customize then.  I don't know enough about Retail to know if even that will serve your needs fully.

    I am thinking of using Customer price/discount group to create these discount types and then customizing the journal form to include these discounts i.e. add more fields like discount 1 and discount 2 fields so that all the discount groups are calculated & accounted in SO..please let me know if this would be a right approach?

    Another reason I cant use Item discount groups is that In my case, the discounts can be applied to both line item and and total order value. Thus I will have no clarity if the discount is Line discount or Multiline discount

    Ideally, You can do the required calculation by adding required fields in journal form and later try to validate the standard Disc 1 or Disc 2 fields with calculated results.

    This mean, we are not touching the standard system logic and would ensure that system is working fine as standard as possible.

    However, to add these discount fields, I need to create the discount groups. But the problem is even If I use customer discount group form, the journal can have only 1-to-1 relation between items and customers.
