hi all,

I've been stuck in an urgent problem for a while and run out of ideas

my customer import General Journal through an external interface, in some cases (few but that do not allow us to close the month) at the time of posting we receive this error:

"You must select a value in the BusinessUnit field in combination with the following dimensions values that are valid: MainAccount 4001000001.

The combination was not validated beyond the BusinessUnit financial dimension."

looking for a discriminant we didn't find why some customers / vendor produce this error

looking at the ledgerDimension (in DimensionAttributeValueCombination) and the defaultDimension (in DimensionAttributeValueSet) of the ledgerJournalTrans I didn't find nothing strange, it all seems correct

also in customer or vendor the dimension business is there

assuming it was the interface that created the journal wrong, we tried "by hand" but we have the same problem

we can't unblock the journal in error

and i have no other ideas on what to check

I understand that I am not giving much guidance but any suggestions are welcome

Hi,

I assume 4001000001 is a revenue account and is on Offset account? Please check your Offset OFFSETACCOUNTDISPLAYVALUE and OFFSETDEFAULTDIMENSIONDISPLAYVALUE if you have properly uploaded your Financial Dimensions. Also, check you Financial dimension configuration for integrating applications for format Ledger type for you to successfully push the data with the correct Financial Dimension sets.

HI,

Number 1: This error comes when you have your account structure with main account, where BLANK value is not allowed

Number 2: Even if you have set up Business unit in customer and vendor level, it might not work because your customer/ vendor posting profile main account has no default BU value, hence at the end the BU is blank and it doesnt allow as I have stated in number 1 point

Solution

You can deal with this by multiple way

1: You can change your account structure by adding the "", it means blank value is allowed for BU

2: You can set default dimension for main account related to vendor/ customer posing profile profile

3: You can make a default BU in the journal names

Hi Mattia.c

If in your business, BU is a critical reporting unit then you must pass BU value to D365 FO when you create journal from external interface OR allow blank value in your account structure by adding the "" as ramit suggested so that whenever system don't receive BU dimension, it should allow system to post the journal. Just for further clarity, Are these customers invoice/payments or Vendor invoices/payments?

If these are customer invoices that i assume then you can also setup default BU dimension on your revenue account but in that case your reporting will be always based on fixed BU. You can discuss that with finance department.

The decision is completed based your financial reporting, Fix the BU on revenue account in D365 or must pass the BU value to journal from external interface.

thanks everyone for the tips

continuing to investigate I noticed that the cases that create a problem didn't have the correct DimensionAttributeValueSetItem, as if one were missing

I created a class to "fix" this by identifying anomalous cases, and now it seems to be fine

I can't explain why certain dimensionItem are missing but it doesn't seem to have reappeared again
