hi all,

for a typical business central project, there must be customization in order to fix the client's business data. e.g. out of the box the inventory in the item table would need to be extended through AL. so my question is if anybody know how much effort it will take to customize business central and how much it usually cost. if there a way to do customization without AL?

    In the online version, you need to create extensions with AL in order to do customizations. Effort it depends on the customizations and on your level of knowldedge of the platform. Simple customizations can be done in minutes, while complex implementation (new modules) must be architectured with knowledge and for sure they will require more time. There's not a written rule for the effort estimation :)

    let's say a client's inventory item has about 10 customized fields. so the effort is to extend the item table with AL then the page for the item. what are the related effort for this to make it work with reports and quotes?

    To make this customization on tables and pages, few minutes... modifying a report by adding this fields, something more but this is quite an easy task.

    To add fields on a table and on a page via an extension, not more than that. But talking about time estimation is out of scope here, it depends on many things and on the use case. This is a task that you can do without problems :)

    that's the thing I need to find out. I wonder if you have a rough estimate on how much effort in term of man days doing this because out of the box, business central won't fit any real business need.
