AX2009 Client Install Error

(0) ShareShare
ReportReport
Posted on by 400

When installing the AX2009 client on a user’s computer, the application
finishes with errors resulting in a failed install.  The log is attached
below.  I have installed this same client on an additional ten computers in
the same environment with no problems.  Attempts to reinstall result in the
same error.  Is it possible that the install didn’t fully back out after the
first attempt leaving orphaned data that is causing subsequent failures?  I
have found very little regarding client install errors via web and forum
searches.

Any insight or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

    Hi,

Did you try to run Windows System Restore before re-installing the AX Client?

    best,

Hi I got exactly same log on 5 computers, XP and W7. Client installation on other 5 computers finished successfully, XP and W7. On one computer the installation hanged before rollback. During that period AX client was working and could connect AOS. What did I do: I first uninstalled and reinstalled .NET 3.5 SP1. No luck! I noticed that the one common feature on computers with failed installation was that the computers were used by developers. I uninstalled all Visual C++ and Visual Studio references, booted the computer, no luck! Then I, again, uninstalled .NET and reinstalled .NET 3.5 (not SP1) and rerun the AX client, debugger and BC installation and voíla! Client installation was successfull! My guess is that there was some old uncompatible dll installations and AX client installation skipped those files resulting the rollback. Hope this experience is useful for you Wille

Another AX client installation was successfull by first uninstalling .NET and reinstalling .NET 3.5 (Not SP1) on a machine with Visual Studio 6, 2005 and 2008. I bet .Net 3.5 SP1 is the source of the problem.

    Hi,

I think problem in .net frameworks previous installed. So uninstall all .net frameworks from that machine and install a fresh .net framework 3.5 installation. Then install AX it will work.

    Hi,

We had the same problem with a Win7 Ultimate.

We had to unistall .net4 and all of the Visual c++ (2005-2008); reboot and  Install .net3.5.  Then, the installer ran with no problems.
