"The <fieldname> field could not be created: The specified field does not exist in Microsoft Dynamics 365." Anyone have a workaround for not being able to create fields on import?

Hi there,

There's a bug in Customer Engagement at the moment where when you try choose to create a field on import the following error is displayed -

"The <fieldname> field could not be created: The specified field does not exist in Microsoft Dynamics 365."

I raised a ticket with Microsoft but the representative explained it's a bug and that they are not investing time to fix it as it's in the classic interface and all efforts are going into moving this functionality to the Power Platform. That was over a month ago and the functionality isn't in the Power Platform yet and the bug is still outstanding.

So my question is - Does anyone have a quick way of creating a load of fields from some sort of import? I remember there used to be a bulk attribute creator tool in the Xrm Toolbox that I was going to try but it's no longer there.

I have two migrations and really don't want to have to key in all the fields manually.

    Hi,

I haven't tried it but there is a tool "Attribute Editor "to be a tools to create & update entity attributes via excel import. You can try that.

    www.xrmtoolbox.com/.../Colso.Xrm.AttributeEditor

    Hope this helps.
