Workflow for skills when manager add it

Hello,

I'm looking for a solution for workflow in D365 regarding skills. Now workflow works fine, when employee enter or change the skill, it goes to manager for approval. But the same situation is when manager add a skill for a given subordinate, workflow then goes to manager's direct supervisor for approval.

Is there a condition that can be defined, that when manager is adding or updating a skill for subordinate (from ESS, My Team view) the workflow will be accepted automatically or just inform the person whom the skills were updated?

For me it isn't logical that higher level manager should approve updating the skills for a regular employee.

I have the same question (0)

    Hello LidiaS,

From your lines I assume you use hierarchy assignment in Skill workflow. In general the hierarchy workflow starts from Workflow originator or Workflow owner. I assume you use Workflow originator and therefore when the manager creates a new skills – workflow goes from the manager up.

To avoid that you would need to add a conditional decision which would capture situations where Workflow originator is manager and then use different workflow. But such a condition depends on your business processes. And there will be always some limitations.

Other solution would be a custom workflow.

By the way the same question was discussed earlier here:

Thank you for this proposal. It would work fine, but it's not quite the answer to my issue.

In the setting you have proposed, it will work the same way, no matter if manager will update his/her own skill or the skill for his/her subordinates, right? Can we set a condition that will different workflow based on the place where it's started (Employee Self Servcie when employee update it, My Team view when manager do it)? And if manager needs to update his/her own skills the workflow will look the same as it was a "regular" employee?
