Dynamics 365 finance&Operation and IBM MAXIMO integration

Hi Folks,

Any one has idea about to integrate data between work order from Maximo to D365 FO?

Scenario:

Data flow from Maximo to D365

Data flow from D365 to Maximo

Any suggestions?

Like (Custom service (its not advisable from MS for High volume of data), ODATA (using Data entities), DMF for BYOD DW)

Thanks and Regards,

Sangeeth

Usually I would start by describing what information is supposed to be integrated, what volumes are we talking about and does it need to be real time or not.

    Hi Nikolaos,

Not a Real time, it will be like periodic basis. volume will not have huge.  Document datas need to integrate between Maximo and D365 FO.

    Thanks and Regards,

Then I suggest you look into recurring data jobs in D365FO side for export / import of data entities. When using them you might be able to implement the integration without any development.

OData is also possible but it's slow and will also impact the D365FO performance.

    Hi Nikolaos,

    Thank you so much.

Recurring data jobs will export data to some format (.xml or .xlsx or .csv) and save it to shared folder in azure for both inbound and outbound call from D365 FO and legacy ERP?.

    Thanks & Regards,

Recurring data jobs will work with .xml or .xlsx or .csv but they will not work directly with any "Azure folders". Instead the messages are exported to and imported from an internal message queue in D365FO. You will need an integration platform (such as LogicApps or Biztalk) that will handle the message transfer between the systems (or OneDrive / Sharepoint folders, or whatever you choose to use).

If you want direct point to point integration you need to do some development.

Here is a link into documentation: Data management package REST API.

    Nikolaos,

Internal message queue in D365 FO. It is std available in D365?. Or else will have to create separate FORM for tracking message queue?

It is a standard feature in D365FO. You can see the queue once you set up a recurring integration for your data management project. In the recurring integration details you see which messages have been processed.

The enqueue / dequeue in this document refers to enqueueing / dequeueing files from the queue: docs.microsoft.com/.../recurring-integrations

Note that enqueue and dequeue are operations of the older Recurring integrations API. Don't forget that it's not your only option, you can also utilize the newer Data packages API. My link above explains some differences between them.
