LogistcsPostalAddress Table Address Issue

Hi,

We have an AX > CRM integration and have been looking at extending this to include Addresses (AX addresses going over to CRM). It seems that within a Customer Record, if you update an existing Address this actually creates a new Record in the LogisticsPostalAddress Table rather than updating the existing Record.

This is causing an issue where any updates to existing Addresses against a Customer Record is causing a duplicate Record being created in CRM with the updated Address Lines.

Would there be anyway around this? and why is a new Record created in the underlying LPA table for updates to existing addresses?

A new record in address table can be created for two reasons

    1) if previous address has been expired and you may make a new address

    2) you may create multiple address, where one address is primary. e.g. an organization/customer may has 10 branches each having own address or e.g. an organization/customer may has different address for different roles (delivery, invoice)

I cannot see any other reasons for creation of extra records in LogisticsPostalAddress

    Thanks for the response.

I've attached an image of the Records created in the LPA Table. Perhaps that may help to identify something. The three Records that have been created are all from the same address against a Customer Record. All I did was click the Address on the Customer Record and clicked "edit". I then just altered the Street Name. I made two changes to the Street Field, and, as you can see, two additional LPA Records were created.

Are you saying these shouldn't be created and the original (bottom address) should have been updated?

It seems that you're not familiar with the concept of date effective data.

and you can see only 2 records are valid, by validefrom, validadto date(s)

The table is using Date Effective pattern.

you may do something  so that ax will send only that data to crm, which is active as of date.

Thanks guys. I wasn't aware of Date Effective Data so that explains a lot.

The issue there, Sohaib, is I can't think of a way the original Address Record that has passed over to CRM would be updated. I could query so only active Records are sent over, but that would still send a new Record over, rather than updating the existing Record.

what you are using for integration? if you are using CRM connector I am not aware of details how it works internally.
