Reset Production Order Status - Stop the picking journal

Posted on by 45

I'm resetting the status of a production order from Started to Created in order to be able to delete it. If a picking journal has been posted for the order, doing this will automatically post a picking journal with a negative quantity of what has been picked, reversing your pick. Is there a way to stop this journal from posting? I'd like to be able to reverse it without affecting inventory, I don't seem to see a parameter that will stop this

We're currently in the midst of moving our company over to AX, but AX is not currently system of record for inventory so the number we have in there is because of syncs we have from our old system. AX posting that will end up with the transaction happening twice because the same one will be happening in our legacy system....oh well, we've ran into with other processes and had to code for movement journals before

    Hi cicconej582,

As is Satish said, there is no way to stop this journal from posting.

Why do you want to do this?

When the status of production order is start, the material being picked is ready for the production line. So if you reset the status to created, the inventory status will also be restored to the initially available state.

If the picked item is vulnerable and can’t be returned to warehouse, you can do inventory adjustment manually.

    HI cicconej582,

Don't see parameter to prevent this in standard AX. This functionality is provided to make sure the status is truly created and reset status is equivalent to reversal. You can always override it from default behavior but is not recommended. If you need this journal, you can always post it again, don't know if this is recurring scenario in your business but it shouldn't be. Review business process and align with the system functionality to the extent possible.

    Thanks,
