MR 2012 Installation Access Denied

We were attempting to migrate FRx reports to MR 2012 yesterday and we were logged in as the domain admin and we had some trouble with the migration so I wanted to start over today. When I logged into MR 2012 Configurator today the GP Legacy adapter was not installed so I was trying to reinstall it. Now today I am not logged in as the domain administrator but as a local administrator. As soon as I try to deploy the GP Legacy adapter I am greeted with the message permission error access denied. What permissions are being denied? Is my only hope to wait till next week when I can have the user log in as the domain administrator?

    Hello Richard

For installing & setting up Mgmt Reporter 2012, you would need to be at least a Domain account user and part of local administrator group. Without this, the setup wont let you go further. If you will also be setting up the integration, you will also need to be the Mgmt Reporter Administrator

When we did the initial installation they were logged on as the domain administrator and we used a service account to start the MR services. Now the account I am using now is not the admin account but it is a member of the local admin group. Since it will not load the GP legacy I am going to bet I need to logged as the user that installed MR. I will get back up there this week and try again as I do not have those credentials.

    Hi Richard,

I was able to find the following from the MR 2012 CU8 "Management Reporter Integration Guide for Microsoft Dynamics GP" document (specifically, the file DynGPDataProvInstGuide_ENUS.pdf)

    Microsoft Dynamics GP -

    - Be an active user account in Microsoft Dynamics GP

    - Be assigned to the role of sa user or dynsa user, or be a Microsoft

Dynamics GP user that has manually been assigned the db_datareader

role in SQL Server for the Microsoft Dynamics GP system database and

    company database.

    Management Reporter 2012 -

    - Be a user assigned to the Administrator role.

    - Have an Active Directory® domain account user ID and password.

In this case the cause was the fact that the domain account installing MR was not the same as the designated MR Admin account. Once I made them the same the installation continued. After MR was installed I designated another account as the MR admin account.

    Hi Richard,

Thanks for responding back to the forums.

I'm glad that you were able to give the user administrator rights in MR security, which resolved the issue.
