Hi community,
I hope someone here have some experience with item forecasting through projects, as I have scenario which I cannot seem to find a good solution to.
I am working on an AX2012 R3 CU13 installation. What I'm trying to find a solution to following requriement;
The company supplies highly customized solutions. The solutions however, often consists of several standard components. As the engineering and drawing process is a quite long process, the business would like a solution where they can at least forecast the standard parts that they know, is used in the customized solution.
Many products in the company are phantom items - this is partly to ease the registration in the shop floor.
The company uses the project module.
Okay, so what I was trying to do, was to draft a solution where the forecasted parts where added to the item forecast on the project. MRP is then set up to include the forecast model which we use for these item forecasts. Further, I have deactivated the Budget control, for forecast reduction to work. And it does. However, there is a scenario where I don't understand the behavior of AX:
So my BOM levels are like:
CUSTOMIZED ITEM A
PHANTOM (1 pcs)
RAW MATERIAL A (2 pcs per 1 PHANTOM)
RAW MATERIAL B (1 pcs per 1 PHANTOM)
When I put PHANTOM into item forecast, MRP will see it, and generate needed planned orders. All is good. However, when the CUSTOMIZED ITEM A is inserted in item requirement and a production order is generated and estimated, I see that my Item Forecast is reduced with 3 pcs. This is equal to the sum of the BOM line quantities. I tried changing the quantities in the BOM, which confirmed that the summed quantity is also the quantity the Item Forecast gets reduced by. What I expected, was the Item Forecast was only reduced by 1 pcs, as this is the quantity used in CUSTOMIZED ITEM A.
Does anyone have any idea if I can do any setting to change this behavior? Or is this "per design", a bug, or..? Hope someone has some insight and knowledge to share. All is much appreciated.
/Jimmy
Hi Jimmy,
As far as I know, there is not any parameter to change this behavior. It could be a bug, so please log a support case so that Microsoft support team can research further and then can fix it if needed.
