Hi All,

I am working for a client who want to implement AX 2012 R3 email approval process .. however they want to use complete in premises solution and not use Azure configuration. They have required infrastruectre in place to receive URL request from cloud and translate and re-direct to appropriate internal server. Is it even possible to achieve this with customization based on how microsoft has designed the email approval? Anyone has done or planning to anything like this? What could be alternate solution ?

Hi JJ,

Can you tell the reasons why this customer does not want to use the Azure route? If you are not going to use it, customizations will be the only solution, but will not be easy and could be very expensive.

Using Azure is not expensive at all.

Reason for not going to Azure is Security and eliminating dependency. Client security team argument is they would like to handle internally.

I researched further on this and I believe as long as Workflow parameters Base URL to Approve Rejct Workflow is accessible we should be able to utilize this feature

For example if I setup Base URL to Approve Rejct Workflow as

myworkflowapprovalsite.com

I get following URL in the email

myworkflowapprovalsite.com/applyURLAction{56A7810E-9D09-42B3-B6BD-6B96A3AD52F1}&userId=ae0476aa4ca9beb99ecab8696f68d6eb210023f37ade3560b5c875d6762bee4c

I believe what we need here that this URL myworkflowapprovalsite.com collect all the parameters and call back AX AIF workflow service to approve/reject the request.

Am I missing something ?

HI JJ,

Please note that creating a customization is also creating dependencies. Who will support it? What if the person who created it left the company (or got hit by a train)? How to upgrade to future versions?

I have not researched in other possibilities or looked into the technical details and thus cannot advise if your assumptions are correct.

Hi JJ,

I am testing on this case too. I created a service using SysWorkflowApprovalService.applyUrlAction service operations and apply the WSDL URI in Base URL to approve/reject workflow. Problem is i am getting (HTTP 405 Method Not Allowed) while trying to click on the link in the email body.

Any clue on this?

We have done this before as a company and do provide a solution that does not use Azure.

There are certainly advantages to both approaches.

On clicking Approve Email Link I am getting following Error

The website has a programming error.

This error (HTTP 405 Method Not Allowed) means that Internet Explorer was able to connect to the website, but the site has a programming error.

Please Help
