Dear All,
We are planning to migrate from on-premise Dynamics Crm to Cloud. There are lot of applications that are dependent to Crm but will still run on-premise. They are using SOAP api to connect to on-premise Crm and we are still planning to use SOAP api to connect to online Crm after migration. Some applications just reads the data while others read, create and update too.
So, what type of users do we use for this type of scenario? I read about the licensed users, non-interactive users, application users etc. but confused about which user to use so that we can save money on licenses. Also we have lot plugins running on the server and will execute when the data are created or updated.
Any response or direction to the right resource is much appreciated.
Thanks in advance !
Non-interactive accounts do not consume a licence (however, dependant on usage you may still need to be mindful of api usage) and thee is a limit on the total number you can have in an instance docs.microsoft.com/.../create-users-assign-online-security-roles. (they use a username/password authentication model and are established in Office 365)
Application are also non-interactive, but use a server-to-server authentication model, however there is not a limit on their number.
By default you want non-interactive, if you can Application (with the latter your integration application needs to be able to authenticate and it may not support the server-to-server).
Hi Lalu,
Please find the latest licensing document for Microsoft Dynamics CRM as below:
https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=866544&clcid=0x409
It is latest version of Feb 2021 so we suggest you to have a look into that for all required information. If you are still not sure, it is recommended to have discussion with Microsoft partners and you can find information using https://dynamics.microsoft.com/en-us/partners/find-a-partner/.
Thank you.
